In the article, "The Internet is No Substitute for the Dying Newspaper Industry" talks about a world where information is conveyed primarily through rapidly moving images rather than print. The decline of newspapers is about the rise of the corporate state, the loss of civic and responsibility to inform the public. Newspaper stocks have decreased drastically. More people have been using internet to find there vital information, which includes the majority of bloggers and internet addicts. I have to agree as i see the use of the internet used for almost everything.

The article "Is google making us stupid?", the article discusses how we have become more depended on google as our prime source of search engine we forgot how to use other things to help us gain information, we rely solely on the internet now for any piece of information. Hal had believed that the past few years he had an uncomfortable sense that someone, or something, has been tinkering with his brain, remapping the neural circuitry, reprogramming the memory. His attention had gone, he cannot focus his attention on his readings any longer. The need of using the internet has become embedded in his brain and cannot continuously keep his eyes on the print. The use of internet reading has had few people sparking the question, is it holding you back as some have stopped reading books completely. Well I have issues reading so maybe that is the cause..

Both similar in that the use of internet to find out information is used rather than traditional ways of the newspaper. Quicker more timely information coming from the internet with the click of a button, you can access so much on the internet. Unfortunately the decrease in newspaper stocks continues to fall and the internet just isn't good enough to keep them in the game. As well as the fact that many pieces on the internet can be completely opinion pieces.

The Onion

Few "fake" articles drew my attention. First funny article was the Walletless Biden Found Handcuffed To Bedpost. Special agents were responding to a distress call where they found Biden chained to a bed, spread-eagle, with a pair of cutoff denim shorts around his ankles. He also appeared to have lost his wallet with a lucky two-dollar bill, a Sizzler gift card, and a Federal Bikini Inspector badge. Theres no way that was true, why would the vice president carry a Federal Bikin Inspector badge..(hmmm)
Better yet the article -British Royal Family Concerned After Queen Elizabeth II Beheads 7 Tourists was found to be pretty funny. Apparently the Queen ordered guards to decapitate seven tourists having their picture taken outside Buckingham Palace. She also has been up to no good. Staying up late nights..and turning lights on and off, trying to disband Parliament. haha thats funny. As well as putting aluminum foil in the microwave..crazy lady, i suggest a psychiatrist.

NEW YORK- Police Blotter: Merrick. Sept. 23rd. 8PM. 3 males reportedly accused of cutting of eachothers privates for the purpose of selling them on Ebay. Reports of a shanck knife were used along with a swiss army knife.. 2 out of the 3 males were rushed to the hospital as to the where abouts of the 3rd male, still remains unknown, however if you see privates for sale on eBay you will have found your man.

The front left axel of the car had broken off upon impact to the curve, automatically cutting off the front powered breaks of the vehicle itself. Leaving the car with no way of stopping without gravity itself. The car was airbourne before meeting it's maker,the tree. They both with adrenaline were able to make it out through the back door of the vehicle(even with possible injury). The car automatically dialed 911 upon impact, and firefighters and police officers responded immediately. The Two Victim's were rushed to a hospital only obtaining minor physical injuries. Passenger was reported with a fractured back, and the driver was reported to have a broken right ankle. The two teenagers were granted their lives, as to the cars existence, well it no longer exists today. The use of any drug related substance was ruled out by the police on the scene. This wasn't the first time the front left axel of this 2008 BMW 328i was broken off, sparking the question as to what exactly was the problem?

Michael Skube expresses his thoughts and ideas about the world of blogging, In his article written in the Los Angeles Times. Refering to it as “the loudest corner of the Internet.” With points about out how years ago people would only write for money and never as a mere hobby for no profit. In our day and age there are several blogs out there on the Internet and very few of them are making a profit. He points out a distinct difference between bloggers and journalists. Bloggers reject the title “journalist”, saying that they are dedicated to the greater population, making blogging focus more on democratization. They basically have all the liberties that traditional journalists have, but few of the obligations. Although blogging is a quick and easy way to get information out, important stories require more than this. They require much more time and effort. They require thorough fact-sifting and straight-forward facts. Blogs are very important, but what really sends a clear message is the kind of investigation and delving into the situation that reporters and traditional journalists take the time to do.Through examining this article in comparison to Andrew Sullivan’s, one can understand the importance in blogging. Both show how blogging gives readers the same information they would receive from newspapers and magazines, yet in a faster and cheaper way. Sullivan emphasizes how blogging is the beginning of a “publishing revolution.” Blogging is much more personal and easy to relate to. People are realizing that those writers for magazines are no more trustworthy than any random blogger. Another idea he points out is that blogging can create a profit. What is going to happen when people around the world only stick to reading blogs rather than going out and buying a newspaper or watching the news on television? Slowly but surely, the world of media and publishing is beginning to change; and who knows what the result will be.Although Sullivan’s statement about the relatable aspect of blogging is true, I don’t completely agree that the validity of blogs are equal to that of traditional journalism. I believe that Skube is correct in saying that important stories require more effort and investigation than bloggers are willing to contribute. So although blogs are more easily relatable and interesting opinions, in order to get 100% valid facts, we still need the newspapers and television news.

Lawrence Idea

I grew up all my life in a town located just 10 minutes from JFK called Lawrence. The Village of Lawrence is a town with a lot of history and property tax which is sky high. Just outside my home is where you can find your activity.

The Lawrence country club provides you with a full 18 hole golf coarse and several tennis courts in which you can enjoy being youself at. Membership available for purchase to any member of the community.

If your looking for a place to blaze with minimal police activity, heres your place. If your driving in one direction and see a police car heading the opposite direction, you can probably kill 9 people rob a bank and still have no problem with the police. I know first hand because at any hour of the day im probably cruising around town hitting an L bc y not! Got pulled over once for a running stop sign, thats it. Probably going to hire a hitman for the officer anyways(clearly kidding-or am i?) but have to be in court september 22nd.

Alot of rich Jewish families have homes in this neighborhood. I myself am Jewish and Attended a Jewish Private school one town over in Cedarhurst all of my life called HAFTR(Hebrew Academy of the Five Towns and Rockaway). Sickest school, didnt do shit. Tuition being $20,000 a year, i dont give a shitttttt, never went to class. The teachers are retarded and you basically can do whatever you can imagine. In our school hockey is a tradition and we are ussually known to be the best. I played hockey all 4 years of high school and left with two championships. One in 10th and once again as a senior and the kids 1 year younger than me are going for 4 years in a row.




















If you think being high has any effect on your performance you are wrong. In fact I may have showed up stoned to every single game. I started a game(against the worst team) drunk and high and I managed to score a goal in 6 seconds, outstanding right?? My grade was all about the FRANKS(which we say is all the "good times") Therefore making fun of the janitors for stealing all our shit.. thats a FRANK. Going to school for two weeks straight with a mustache also a FRANK, except no girl want to talk to you.

Aside from my personal "schooling" experience Lawrence is one of the finest well known neighborhoods there is. Most homes have there own acres of land. Driveways that deserve there own zip code and of coarse just nearby is the Marina where you can take out your boat or jetskis.
Town, "central avenue" has basically anything you need from food to home entertainment and clothing. If you make a right turn out of my block and continue on a 5 minute driving journey you can find yourself at anything you need. Rockaway Turnpike has just about everything, like a mall, dunkin donuts, costco, 7 11, wendies, t-bell, mcdonalds, office max, hollywood video,gas stations, tabacco road, famous sherwood diner, batting cages, starbucks and anything else you may need.

The Lawrence Cedarhurst Volunteer fire department has a long history behind it. Until the 1970's, there was little need for a fire fighting company in Lawrence. Poor roads hindered vehicles, and since the homes were so far apart, there was little fear that a fire in one house would spread to another. With the completion of the Long Island Railroad to Far Rockaway and the resultant population and building expansion, homes were built closer to one another and the fire hazard soon became a concern to the community.


In the late 1870s, some neighbors got together and provided buckets in convienant places for a fire emergency. However one cold night in 1882, when the church bells sounded the fire alarm, no one responded to the call and several buildings were gutted. Shortly thereafter, a group assembled to form the Washington avenue Hook and Ladder Company #1. In July, 1883, a fire truck fitted with hooks, ladders, and buckets was purchased for $415. After the years and more fires emerged it called for better equipment and progress. They aquired a new horse-drawn steam pumper and 1,000 feet of hose, and new property bought for $1,200. Soon took the sanction of both villages of Lawrence and Cedarhurst. Stores had been planned on the side of the building to bring in profit. By 1915 the fire department started changing to motorized vehicles. And of coarse finds itself as a great fire company with all of the top equipment needed in this modern world today.
