New Literacy

Literacy is heading in a new direction. It is believed to be that, but it is said that new technology is being a factor with kids being able to write. Essays have been replaced by power point and facebook sort of things. Andrea Lunsford, a professor of writing and rhetoric at Stanford University set up the Stanford Study of Writing and found kids are writing far more than generations before them.

Before the internet came along it was found that people never really wrote something unless it was a school assignment, or a job requiring you to produce text. In a way the internet is good. Writing for a larger kind of audience is another example. Writers have there work read by large amounts of people and it is believed that online media is heading in a cool direction.

I think Internet use really could be to our advantage. We can access vital information at the convenience of a push of a button. Able to read just about anything with an easy search. There is also a broader audience and more ideas can be shared in a good well manor.
